🚨Meteotsunami Hits Argentina On 12 January 2026, a rare meteotsunami slammed into Argentina’s Atlantic coast, tearing through crowded beaches in Mar Chiquita, Santa Clara del Mar, Camet and Mar del Plata. One moment it was a normal summer afternoon with 38°C heat and packed sand, the next the sea pulled back and a wall of water came racing in. Lifeguards say the surge rose several meters high and swept straight across areas where people were sunbathing and kids were playing near the shoreline.
