Americans Erin Jackson and Brittany Bowe missed out on medals in the speedskating final. Bowe holds the world record in the event, but Jutta Leerdam of the Netherlands won gold by setting an Olympic record. Jackson, one of Team USA's flag bearers, is the reigning 500-meter Olympic champion.
